Fodor's Review

Although it's part of a hotel, this pub has a separate entrance leading to a room with polished floors, wooden tables, and whitewashed stone. The menu and kitchen are overseen by top chef Michael Caines, so it's a good place to try his food at a more reasonable price (a two-course set menu here is £11). The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, except on weekend nights when the music gets turned up for the party crowd. Expect reliably good comfort food—juicy burgers, crispy

fish-and-chips, or sirloin steak grilled to order. The courtyard is perfect for alfresco dining.
