Manchester Art Gallery

Manchester Art Gallery Review

Behind its impressive classical portico, this splendid museum presents its collections in both a Victorian and contemporary setting. Don't miss the outstanding collection of paintings by the Pre-Raphaelites and their circle, notably Ford Madox Brown's masterpiece Work, Holman Hunt's The Hireling Shepherd, and Dante Gabriel Rossetti's Astarte Syriaca. British artworks from the 18th and the 20th centuries are also well represented. The second-floor Craft and Design Gallery shows off the best of the decorative arts in ceramics, glass, metalwork, and furniture.
