Monasterium PoortAckere

Oude Houtlei 56, Gent, B9000, Belgium

A complex comprising a former abbey, convent, and béguinage is now a serene place to stay in a central neighborhood. Some sections date back to the 13th century; most of the buildings, though, are 19th-century Gothic Revival. There are large comfortable rooms in the Monasterium, the former convent; some former cells nearby have been transformed into small, single guest rooms with a washbasin (cold water only) and shared showers and toilets. You can take breakfast in the chapter house and have a buffet dinner in the church (available only to groups of 16 or more).

CONS
