Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAK) (Museum of Applied Arts)

Museum für Angewandte Kunst (MAK) (Museum of Applied Arts) Review

This fascinating museum contains a large collection of Austrian furniture, porcelain, art objects, and priceless Oriental carpets. The Jugendstil display devoted to Josef Hoffman and his Secessionist followers at the Wiener Werkstätte is particularly fine. The museum also showcases changing exhibitions of contemporary works, and the museum shop sells furniture and other objects (including great bar accessories) designed by young local artists. Consider lunch or dinner at the revamped restaurant, bar, and lounge (Österreicher im MAK, open daily), run by one of Austria's best chefs, Helmut Österreicher.
