Heiligenstadt is home to this heurigein one of Beethoven's former abodes; he composed his Sixth (Pastoral) Symphony, as well as parts of his Ninth Symphony ("Ode to Joy") while staying in this town. The à la carte offerings and buffet are abundant, and the house wines are among the most excellent of all heurigennectars. You'll find lots of Viennese among the tourists here. Though the Mayer family sold the property, the place fortunately remains unchanged.
