Stay at the home of the real von Trapp family in the southern suburb of Aigen, 3½ kilometers (2¼ miles) south of the Neustadt, where each of the comfortable rooms is individually decorated. The hominess continues in the large living room and family-style breakfast room. While the villa was not used in the movie (it was sold to a monastery after World War II), it's since been converted into an inn, where guests can follow in the footsteps of the real Baron von Trapp, his Maria, and their children. Tours of the grounds and common areas are offered for hotel guests and the general public; there's a fee, and advanced booking is required.
