When to Go

The year's big event is St. Patrick's Day, which ushers in more than a week of festivities, highlighted by musical concerts and masquerades à la Carnival. July’s annual weeklong Calabash Festival is becoming quite popular. Late October's Police, Fire, Search, and Rescue Services Community Week also explodes with sound and color, as jump-ups, concerts, and barbecues lure hundreds of revelers. Early December welcomes the literary celebration, Alliouagana Festival of the Word. Mid-December into the New Year sees Christmas festival celebrations, from calypso competitions to pageants and parades.
