Fodor's Review

This 10-acre complex has a contemporary, colorful lobby, cosmopolitan bar, and dual pools that are surrounded by gray market umbrellas and silver patio furniture. The separate Mahogany section is the hotel's pride. In this area, all the rooms and its two-bedroom, bi-level suites were renovated with contemporary Italian furnishings, lots of leather and minimalist style. Large terraces with kitchenettes, have sea views. Expert, Parisian-trained technicians staff the Payot spa; La Créole Spa welcomes nonguests as well. The restaurants do, too; Zawag and the buffet room, Route des Epices, are both laudable and moderately priced. You'll find the best rums from throughout the Caribbean, Creole tapas and traditional acras. The hotel's magic lies in the fun you'll find here, which unites everyone, whether you enjoy aqua aerobics, yoga stretch, playing pétanque (French boccie), or moving to a zouk band. The piano man and bass player add to the conviviality.
