Far from the tourist crowds, Hotel La Catalina is situated on a mountainside with stunning panoramic views of the Atlantic. A peaceful retreat that's easy on the mind and budget, the property is split between condos on one side and hotel rooms. In general, the condos are larger but don't have a/c. The simple, smaller hotel rooms have an all-white motif, a/c, ocean views and boutique touches There is a beach shuttle service (supplement) and one of the closest (a mile away) is gorgeous Orchid Bay Beach. Amenities include two pools, tennis courts, yoga, conference rooms, and full spa services. Courteous, long-term employees are the norm here.
PROS
- rooms are pristinely clean
- convivial bar serves top-shelf liquors and tropical cocktails
- repainted pool areas with mature landscaping and new Euro chaises
CONS
- decor and TVs in some rooms and condos need updating
- many guests rent a car as airport transfers are expensive
- no in-room Wi-Fi
