Fodor's Expert Review Tiferet Israel
Camaguey
Cuba's Jewish community numbers under 1,000 and, like all religious groups here, it has struggled since the Revolution. Camagüey's tiny synagogue provides hope for renewal, however. Reestablished in 1998, Tiferet Israel counts about 45 members and is the most active Jewish congregation outside Havana. The Masorti-affiliated community (that's the international counterpart to the Conservative movement in the United States) welcomes visitors to its synagogue, a converted house.
