Getting Oriented

Beautiful beaches are scattered all over the island and are worth exploring. If you rent a car, you can easily hit all the sights in one day. The best plan is to explore the area near your hotel (either The Valley or North Sound) first, then take a day to drive to the other end. Stop to climb Gorda Peak, which is in the island's center.

  • The Valley. Virgin Gorda's main settlement, Spanish Town, has almost all the island's independent businesses and restaurants. There are several resorts in or around the main hub, with others near The Baths and Spring Bay to the southwest. The main ferry terminal is here as well.
  • Northwest Shore. Except for those resorts and villas in The Valley, most of the island's other resorts and prime villa rental areas are along the northwest shoreline.
  • North Sound. With no road access, this quiet and isolated part of the island is home to several resorts and frequent ferry service. The beautiful beaches and solitude keep visitors coming back. Be sure to spend at least one day here.
