Fishing

Crooked Island has a number of highly regarded bonefishing guides with quality boats and fly-fishing tackle. Most can be booked through Tranquillity On The Bay or the Crooked Island Lodge, but the guides also take direct bookings. Be aware that telephone service to and from Crooked and Acklins islands is not always operational.

You can stalk the elusive and swift bonefish in the shallows, or go deep-sea fishing for wahoo, sailfish, and amberjack.

Michael Carroll (242/344–2037), Derrick Ingraham (242/344–2023), Elton "Bonefish Shakey" McKinney (242/344–2038), Randy McKinney (242/344–2326), Jeff Moss (242/344–2029), and Clinton and Kenneth "The Earlybird" Scavalla (242/344–2011 or 242/422–3596) are all knowledgeable professional guides. Captain Robbie Gibson (242/344–2007) has a 30-foot Century boat and is the most experienced reef and offshore fishing captain on Crooked Island, where astounding fishing in virgin waters is the rule. Many wahoo weighing more than 100 pounds are landed each season with his assistance. Robbie's personal-best wahoo is a whopping 180 pounds. He's also a skilled guide for anglers pursuing tuna, marlin, sharks, barracuda, jacks, snapper, and grouper.
