Grand Bahama Island Sights

Lucayan Beach

  • Beach–Sight

Updated 07/12/2013

Fodor's Review

Somewhat monopolized by the broad spread of the Grand Lucayan, nonguests of the resort can pay $15 (kids $7) for a day pass, which in addition to the beach, includes use of the hotel's pools. You must bring your own towel, and cruise-ship excursions can add to the resort's crowds. Further west, near the famous Billy Joe's beach shack, there is no admission fee for the beach. The white sand is interrupted by rocky protrusions at places, so it's not great for strolling.

Instead, spend the day people-watching, feeding jack fish, or doing multiple water sports including snorkel trips out to Rainbow Reef, parasailing, or WaveRunner tours through the canals. Amenities: food and drink; lifeguards; water sports. Best for: partiers; snorkeling; sunrise; swimming.
