Old Bahama Bay at Ginn Sur Mer

Fodor's Review:

Relax and luxuriate in relative seclusion at this hotel designed for boating vacationers as well as fly-in guests looking to get away from it all. Waterfront suites, one and two bedrooms, have heavy wood furnishings and restful views of the beach through French doors. All suites contain wet bars, bathrobes, cooking utensils, and DVD/CD players (with a complimentary on-site library). Premium suites include jetted bathtubs and in-room laundry facilities. Bike, kayak, and snorkel equipment use is complimentary. Although endearingly intimate and individual, Old Bahama Bay has all the amenities of a full-grown, self-contained resort, including a casual and a fine restaurant and a customs office, making it one of the Bahamas' top small marina properties. This property will become part of the developing 2,200-acre Ginn Sur Mer, complete with a spa, expanded marina, water park, two golf courses, and 5,000 rental condos and homes. A private airstrip is already open, and the Arnold Palmer Signature golf course will open in 2010. Pros: peace and serenity, top-shelf marina, close to local color. Cons: limited dining choices, far from airport and shopping, currently in the midst of a construction site.
