Fodor's Review

Harbour Island's famed beachfront resort has long been praised by celebrities—Martha Stewart, Nicole Kidman, and Brooke Shields—and honeymooners alike for its 25 private cottages scattered over 26 secluded acres. Biba designer Barbara Hulanicki updated the resort with her eclectic touches, including a cascading mother-of-pearl chandelier that dominates the lobby. The renovations have infused the main house with a sexy, South Beach–Moroccan vibe. With all the creature comforts in the way of luxurious bedding, plasma-screen TVs, and imposing native wood furniture, the newly renovated guest cottages truly feel like an island getaway in paradise. The Blue Bar serves Bahamian-infused European cuisine until sunset and has a prime vantage point overlooking the beach.

Wonderful experience

If it's good enough for Paul McCartney and a host of other celebrities, it's probably good enough for you. Since the earlier reviews, there have been a host of upgrades. General manager greeted us upon arrival with glasses of pink champagne and the service just got better after that. Cottages have a lovely European flavor. Grounds are natural and carefully tended. Beach is great. Wonderful European-style continental breakfast overlooking the beach.

Food and beverage quality and service are top notch, although pricey. People came to our cottage four times a day for housekeeping, turn-down and delivering ice or extra bottled water. Dunmore Town, which you tour with your golf cart, is exactly what you'd expect on a Bahamas out-island -- but even friendlier. Highly recommended.

No one even ackowledged we were there !

We walked in the hotel to request a room and the rates and no one even ackowledged that we there ! Maybe we were invisible ?? From what we could see there weren't many people there and the place really looked old and run down. So we left !

We couldn't care less service

We stayed here for a weekend and the service was somewhere between below average and indifference. The beach was amazing and the room was above average, but the poor service really put a damper on things. You spend ~ $1000/night for a room and you would think they would help somewhat in getting you to/from the resort. I would recommend the Rock House. We only had a bite and a drink there, but you could tell the service was much better. Small

island so getting to the beach is no problem
