Golf

Norfolk Island Golf Club. Set among the historic convict buildings and late 18th-century ruins and with stunning views of the ocean, this rugged golf course is one of the most picturesque in the world. And with greens fees of just A$75 for an entire week (or A$22 for nine holes), it's certainly one of the cheapest. The course is nestled between the ocean and the old cemetery and runs alongside the gardens of Government House. Numbers 4 and 13 are the signature holes. Serious golfers usually bring their own clubs, but rentals are available. There are just 9 holes, but the course is rated an 18-hole, par 72, as you can play the layout twice. At the end of the game, the clubhouse—a graciously restored former residence of the island's stipendiary magistrate—is the place for a meal and a cold beer. Quality Row, Burnt Pine, n/a Norfolk Island. 672/322354; www.norfolkislandgolf.com. A$22 for 9 holes, A$33 for 18 holes.
