Rimu Lodge Review

Just 10 minutes from Hokitika, this modern two-story lodge sits high above the Hokitika River valley, and has extensive views across to the Southern Alps. Closer in the view is leafy and green, framed by native bush and garden. The four guest rooms, named for local native birds, are well sized, as are the en suite bathrooms. The two ground-floor guest rooms open out onto the large breakfast deck area and all four are bathed in natural light. The social hub of the lodge is a large Great Room which also opens to the outdoors, with a big open fire in winter. Beneath the lodge and its neighboring properties lies a long tunnel running deep into the hill, a relic from the district's active gold-mining days.
