Fodor's Review

Just a few minutes walk from the visitor centre, this heritage building, once known as "The Brick House," indeed has a stately brick facade. It's one of Greymouth's original buildings and used to house government offices. Now the ale flows in an interior that's been stylishly restored with shiny, bold copper vents that look good against the wood and brick as well as carry heat from the fire throughout the premises. The bistro-style menu includes the signature whitebait and blue cod, along with the usual steaks, lamb, salmon, and mussels. There are also bar snacks and a kids menu. It makes for a good lunch spot.
