Fodor's Expert Review New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum

Wanaka

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

On your way into town on State Highway 6, you'll pass the New Zealand Fighter Pilots Museum. The museum is a tribute to New Zealand fighter pilots. The collection of planes includes aircraft used during the two world wars, such as the British Spitfire and rarities like the Russian Polikarpov I–16. Check out the biennial international air show Warbirds over Wanaka, where you can see some of these magnificent aircraft in flight.
