Getting Here and Around

If you're day-tripping from Whitianga, take the five-minute ferry ride (which leaves every hour, NZ$6 round-trip) across to Flaxmill Bay and explore by foot. Alternatively, follow State Highway 25 south from Whitianga. The road takes you past the Wilderland Community's roadside stand (selling organic produce and delicious honey from a community-run organic farm) and on a loop around to Hahei, Cooks Beach, and Flaxmill Bay. If you want to explore Cathedral Cove you can walk the steepish track, or simply catch a water taxi off the beach at Hahei.
