Getting Here and Around

Unless you're driving or on a charter flight from Auckland, bus is the only way to get to Whitianga (with the exception of those stalwart few who are conquering the Coromandel by bicycle). Bus companies stop at the Whitianga i-SITE Visitor Centre.

A nice way to explore Flaxmill Bay or Whitianga (if you're based at either of these points) is to leave your car on the dock and take the NZ$4 (NZ$6 return) ferry across and explore the beaches and cafés on foot.
