HUHU Cafe Review
Locals know a good thing and smile quietly when visitors inevitably express surprise that such a classy café exists "way out here in the country." The café brings a touch of urban chic to the town, and its big windows display great views of the countryside. Local produce and organic beef from neighboring Te Anga, feature on the contemporary New Zealand-style menu. Small, tapa-style plates include ostrich, spinach ravioli, steamed pork belly, and rewena, a traditional Maori bread and the café's signature dish. Throughout the day hungry cavers can stock up on a fresh supply of muffins, scones, soups, and bagels. Top New Zealand wines are available. Downstairs, HUHU Gallery showcases classy New Zealand giftware, ceramics, and jewelry.
