Fodor's Review

With its blend of upmarket "flashpacker" lodge rooms and stylish self-contained suites and apartments, Anndion is a market leader. Owners Anne and Dion (get it?) sold their Harley bikes to afford the standard of service they want to provide, and they are so enthusiastic that the property—which sits across the road from the Whanganui River—just keeps on growing. In addition to clean, colorful accommodations, it offers plenty of on-site perks. The shared lodge kitchen, for instance, even comes with a sandwich press and cappuccino maker; those who don't want to do their own cooking can eat at the Anndionce Restaurant & Harley Bar. Outside, you'll find a covered barbecue area, saltwater pool, hot tub, and infrared sauna; inside, there's a TV lounge with an extensive DVD library, pool table, and free Internet access.
