Fodor's Expert Review La Vague Bleue (also called Tauhanihani Village Lodge)

PK 16, South Coastal road, Teahupoo, Tahiti, Windward Islands, 98723, French Polynesia

It means "the blue wave" and the pension pays homage to one of the biggest and most dangerous waves in the world—Teahupoo. The wave itself is accessed via a short boat ride to a place called Hava'e Pass. The pension is literally right on the beach, and each of the six bungalows can accommodate four people (one king bed and two singles) and have kitchen and hot-water bathroom, fan, TV, terrace, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There are free kayaks, and tours can be organized to the grotto and the "wave" itself.
