Fodor's Expert Review Restaurant Arii Vahine
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
The main restaurant at the Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa has a soaring thatched roof, held up by sturdy varnished tree branches, and an array of dangling lights made from hundreds of shells, but it's wise to grab a table on the terrace to take in the superb lagoon view. Interesting seafood dishes to choose from include pan-seared mahimahi crusted with sweet potatoes, caramelized fei bananas (indigenous bananas that can only be eaten cooked), and mango reduction. A dish that combines French and Polynesian flavors is the goat cheese quenelle (breaded and lightly fried) served with tomatoes, cucumbers, and sweet Moorea pineapple. A trio of singers and guitarists entertain several nights a week.
