Taxi Travel

Taxis are abundant throughout Viti Levu and most are independently operated: if you can't hail one on the street, any hotel and most restaurants will be happy to call one for you. They are generally metered in Nadi and Suva, and note there is a F$5 flag fall from the airport. Elsewhere, ask a local what rate you should expect to pay and negotiate the fare before accepting a ride, as drivers are known to boost the fare for foreigners. In many places, taxis offer 50-cent "return fares" to passengers they pick up on their way back to a town center.
