Phillip Island Travel Guide

Getting Here and Around

To reach the island from Melbourne, take the Princes Freeway (M1) southeast to the South Gippsland Highway (M420), and follow this to the Bass Highway (A420). V/Line runs a combination train and bus service from Southern Cross Station to Cowes (with change at Dandenong railway station), a journey of 3½ hours. If you're on the Mornington Peninsula, there's a regular daily passenger ferry service from Stony Point (which can be reach aboard regular suburban commuter trains via Frankston) to Cowes.
