With rockpools, water fountains, an oceanfront saltwater swimming pool, and gentle, patrolled swimming areas, it's no surprise that festive King's Beach is one of the Sunshine Coast's most popular choices for families. The region's closest beach to Brisbane, it also attracts plenty of surfers chasing the breaks toward the beach edges. King's foreshore is well landscaped, with seating and shade areas, as well as a bustling boardwalk. A grassy reserve, fronted by a seawall, runs alongside the beach, peppered with children's playgrounds, picnic spots, and barbecue areas. A range of beachside cafés and eateries surround. Deep rip holes run off the rocks for fishing. Amenities: food and drink; lifeguards; parking; showers; toilets. Best for: sunset; surfing; swimming; walking.
