Half an hour's drive past the Daintree ferry crossing, on the rain forest-fringed Coral Sea shore, sits a rustic, beach shack-style café. Service can be surly but you'll find unfussy, family-friendly fare—big fried breakfasts, burgers, beef-and-shiraz pies, Cajun chicken wraps, and fetta-spinach flan with salad. Alternatively, just order an espresso and a slice of cake and contemplate the ocean. Make phonecalls here: it's one of the few spots in the area that gets clear cell-phone reception.
