Restaurant M Yogo

Updated 01/16/2014

Fodor's Review

Occupying a prime pier-front position, Restaurant M Yogo could be Cairns's best-placed restaurant. Here chef Masa puts a deft, modern-Japanese spin on classic French dishes. Enjoy his creamy seafood risotto with tiger prawns, squid, and scallops; roasted duck breast in port-wine sauce; pan-seared wild barramundi or Tasmanian salmon; and premium grain-fed Wagyu tenderloin. The food is as inspiring as the marina, inlet, and mountain views. Waitstaff can help you select the

perfect match from a well-chosen Antipodean wine list. If you have room, desserts are equally pared back and delectable: Grand Marnier ice cream, mango mousse or sorbet, green tea "opera" cake, or a fluffy cream-cheese soufflé cake with Chantilly cream and seasonal fruits. The four-course set menu featuring a lobster main is good value at A$99. This is refined dining in relaxed environs, perfect for special occasions.
