Consistently ranked among the best restaurants in town, this petite, city-edge bistro in a converted tea warehouse serves innovative fare to a loyal following. Completely refurbished in 2014, e'cco's clean, contemporary design makes the perfect backdrop for the seasonally changing Mediterranean and Asian-inspired Mod Oz dishes, where the focus is on fresh, local ingredients and simple, yet bold, cuisine. Start with vine-wrapped quail or smoked pancetta with watermelon, and follow with black cardamom beef or duck breast with caramelized pear. The dessert selection is equally delectable: banana and hazelnut ice cream, strawberry, rhubarb, and rosewater cheesecake, and carrot cake with pistachio and orange blossom. For a bit of everything, order the excellent tasting menu; it showcases five dishes (A$89) and can be paired with top wines by the restaurant’s sommelier (A$139).
