Like most resort towns, Nha Trang has an abundance of dining options ranging from streetside banh mi hawkers to formal restaurants offering every type of Western cuisine imaginable. Catering to French residents are a handful of bistros that have created a fusion of Vietnam-meets-Paris. If time is limited, opt for local cuisine to experience authentic Vietnamese dishes like pork spring rolls, cha ca (fish patties), and seafood cooked in clay pot.
This American-styled barbecue restaurant, complete with a smoker and long tables, serves up sweet, delicious barbecue and locally made craft beer. The hip, contemporary space also carries great gifts from local artists and designers. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

With more than 30 years in the industry, chef Shoji Kajiwara is Nha Trang's sushi godfather. His small, cozy establishment nestles subtly along a quiet street a short walk from the tourist area, but behind the inconspicuous entrance, chef Shoji, the only Japanese sushi chef in Nha Trang, slices up fish with aplomb right in front of diners.
A centrally located, quirky, chic café-restaurant, Alpaca captures the spirit of the more artful, creative modern day with its expressive atmosphere. It also boasts a versatile menu, all prepared with great care. The Mexican options are very popular, as are the vegan and gluten free items.
Tourist-friendly Vietnamese cuisine is served in a relaxing, relatively upmarket atmosphere here. The street food is cooked along the sides of the restaurant, giving the place a lively edge. It's a tasty and safe option for those who are wary of real street food, or groups seeking a mixture of street food and restaurant fare. Tasting menus are available for those struck by indecision.
Join the locals at this popular and sometimes rowdy barbecue and hotpot joint that becomes quite smoky when the serious table-top barbecuing gets underway. The decor is very plain, the food is cheap and delicious, and there's an English menu.
An upmarket brewery, bar, and restaurant situated in huge beachfront premises, Lousiane Brewhouse even has its own pool and sun loungers. A good selection of well-priced European-style craft beer is on offer, as well as international, Vietnamese, and Japanese cuisine. Louisiane Brewhouse has a bit of something for everyone, including live music in the evenings, and is one of the best places in town for a sundown drink. Beer connoisseurs should ask about the brewery tours.
For some of the best authentic Vietnamese food around, head 6 km (4 miles) outside the city center to this 300-year-old house surrounded by rice paddies and lotus ponds. The menu, handwritten on cardboard, features fish barbecued in bamboo, banana flower salad, crispy prawn pancakes, and Asian spinach soup with basil-seasoned rice. For a unique dessert, try the white rice and mung beans in coconut sauce.
With a three-story jungle tree house decked out with swings and slides, as well as quieter alcoves and offbeat seating to enjoy local coffee and an array of food, Rainforest is certainly the most unique eatery in town. The theme might seem purely playful and wild, but the design of the place as a whole has a sophisticated feel.
Whether you're looking for some seaside relaxation, great meals, or a thumping party, the Sailing Club has you covered with its prime beachfront location and wide-ranging menu serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. After dark it magically morphs into one of the plushest clubs in Nha Trang. Daytime options include coffee and/or cocktails, while lounging on a four-poster bed near the lotus pond or on a deck chair on the beach; the more upright options including dining, playing pool, or hanging out on a swing, all with a spectacular view of the East Sea.

For the most romantic dining experience in Nha Trang, reserve a table for two and sink your toes into the sand at Mia Resort's beachfront barbecue restaurant, just a stone's throw from the water. Tiki torches and lanterns surround your private table. The chef prepares fresh lobster, squid, scallops, lamb, and chicken on a fiery grill right on the beach. Private dining on the sand is not available on windy or rainy days, and must be booked two hours in advance. Isolated from the main Sandals dining room, this is a true VIP experience.
