Even with the proliferation of spas in Hua Hin, Chiva-Som has not been toppled from its lofty position as one of best destination spa-resorts in the region—and, possibly, in the world. The resort focuses on holistic healing and a wholesome diet, but the setting on the beach will do you a world of good, too. Personalized programs begin with a questionnaire upon arrival, addressing diet, detoxification needs, or any other physical or mental health concerns. For the remainder of your stay obsequiously courteous staff (six per guest room) will help you heal, through educational talks in the library, Watsu treatments (shiatsu massage while floating in a body-temperature pool), and individually tailored diets. The tasteful and comfortable rooms have lots of natural woods and some have private terraces that overlook the ocean. Pros: unique spa program; high level of service. Cons: not for partiers; expensive.
