Alternatively, you can take a 45-minute trip by longtail boat to circular Bamboo Island, with a superb beach around it. The underwater colors of the fish and the coral are brilliant. The island is uninhabited, but you can spend a night under the stars if you're adventuresome. You can also hike up to a series of viewpoints toward the 1,030-foot peak on the east side of the island. The trailhead is near Tonsai Bay; ask your hotel for directions.
Koh Phi Phi, Thailand

Bamboo Island is around 25 minutes from Laem Tong Bay. We try to make a trip here every time we visit Phi Phi. Typically, we will hire a longtail and driver for four hours. Bamboo Island has been given National Park status so there is a small fee to pay. 300baht last time we visited. It is possible to walk all round the island, though at certain tide times, a short swim is required here and there. We have done this walk sometimes, without encountering
any other person. Lovely little sandy bays, crystal clear water and surely a must for anyone visiting Phi Phi.
