The Westin is fancy-schmancy, with lots of sleek surfaces and neon lighting, and bright and shiny modern decor in the futuristic bathrooms. For those who'd prefer to work out in the privacy of their own room, the Westin offers a "Workout Deluxe Room," with a treadmill and weights. The pool is clean and simple, not the urban oasis that some hotels have, but still refreshing after a hot day. And there's definitely something to be said for staying along Sukhumvit, with all the entertainment possibilities.

A recent, brief business stay at the 'WGS' was as fine as ever. (And brought back memories of once doing 'the Bangkok bounce' between the WGS and its neighbour, the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, in helping to maintain a certain status with Starwood; a bit more Bangkok hotel property 'leeway', for me, these days.) ... Would suggest an 'exec club' category and an 'eastern exposure' room on a higher floor. (Always been, 'good karma'.) ... Can't put this
hotel at the 'top' of my BKK lodging list, but for work (and occasional pleasure), she's always satisfied. (And will always have sweet WGS memories of briefly glimpsing a joyous Japanese businessman emerging from an adjacent room with two gorgeous Thai women; quite possibly, less than half his age. Oh, yes, the occasional joys of Bangkok business travel.) ... Savour your WGS Sukhumvit work/leisure moments (and, perhaps, its on-site spa and wondrous masseuses), in the City of Angels...
