Fodor's Expert Review Sule Shangri-La Yangon

There is no better luxurious base than the iconic former Traders Hotel, which Shangri-La took over in 2014 after a two-year refurbishment. Service standards are as high as you would expect from Shangri-La, and the location is unbeatable, just down the street from Bogyoke Market and two blocks from Sule Pagoda. Rooms are comfortable but small and decorated simply—but the Wi-Fi is fast, the breakfast buffet extensive, and the pool heavenly after a hot day of sightseeing. The ground-floor lounge is a popular meeting spot and a good place to get work done; you won't find anywhere else in Yangon with Wi-Fi as powerful.
