Cons
Apsara Review
With its white facade and balustrades and its riverside location, this French-style maison would be at home in southern France; instead, it's the trendiest boutique hotel in Luang Prabang. The plush silk-adorned restaurant ($) is worth a visit, even if you're not staying the night (it claims to serve the driest martini in town). The reasonably priced rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that face east, so you can catch the sunrise over the nearby mountains. Rooms 1 through 5 on the second floor have the best river or mountain views. At this writing, a second hotel under the same management, with a swimming pool, was scheduled to open directly across the river from the Apsara in mid-2009.
