The Shitamachi area is known for its down-to-earth friendliness, which you get in full measure at Sawanoya. This little inn is a family business: everybody pitches in to help you plan excursions and book hotels for the next leg of your journey. The inn is very popular with budget travelers, so reserve online well in advance. On occasion, the staffers, who manage to keep the facilities and rooms very clean, perform various traditional dances and ceremonies in full costume in the lobby. To get here from Nezu Station, walk 300 yards north along Shinobazu-dori and take the street on the right; Sawanoya is 180 yards ahead on the right.
