Getting Here and Around

Despite the long winters, JR Shin-Aomori Station's connection to the Hayabusa Shinkansen line makes the journey from Tokyo and elsewhere on Honshu easy. You can also continue on to Hokkaido from the same station that is less central than Aomori Station. The Hayabusa Shikansen runs more or less hourly from Tokyo (three hours, ¥17,150). By JR local train it's 45 minutes (¥670) from Hirosaki.

Aomori Airport has six daily flights from Tokyo's Haneda Airport on JAL. Aomori also has three JAL flights and three ANA flights from Osaka’s Itami Airport, as well as three JAL flights and two ANA flights from Sapporo's Chitose Airport.

The JR highway express bus departing from Tokyo Station's Yaesu Bus Terminal at 10:30 pm arrives at Aomori at 8:05 am (¥9,000 one-way).
