Yacho-no-mori (Wild Bird Forest)

Yacho-no-mori (Wild Bird Forest) Review

This sanctuary is home to some 120 bird species. You can watch the birds' habitat from two observation huts along a 2½-km (1½-mi) forest course. To get here, take a five-minute bus ride from Naka-Karuizawa Station to Nishiku-iriguchi, and then walk up the small road for 400 meters. The narrow entrance is past the café, restaurant, and onsen on the left. Alternatively, you can bike to the sanctuary's entrance in about 15 minutes. Bikes can be rented at Naka-Karuizawa Station for ¥800 per hour or ¥2,000 a day.
