Niigata
The coast between Kurobe and Niigata is flat and not so interesting. Two towns along the way, Naoetsu and Teradomari, serve as ferry ports to Ogi and Akadomari, respectively, on Sado-ga-shima. From Niigata ferries go to Sado-ga-shima and even Hokkaido. In the skiing season people fly into Niigata before traveling by train to the northern Alps for quick access to ski resorts.
