Fodor's Review:
This late-night robata-yaki (charcoal grill) izakaya, or casual bar-restaurant, can get a little rowdy. It's two blocks north of Shijo on Nawate street in the heart of Gion you don't need a reservation to find a seat at the long counter if there are no tables. Grilled chicken, meat (sometimes even duck), seafood, and other dishes, including vegetables and salads, are available cheaply. In cooler months try the simmered oden(hot pot).
