Fodor's Expert Review Sapporo Beer Hokkaido Brewery

Of interest to beer meisters, the place where they actually brew the country's most famous beer offers free looks around the factory. Tours in Japanese (there is English signposting) depart at 10, 11, 1, 2, 3, and 4 and give you 40 minutes of stats and sights and 20 minutes to down two free beers. Reservations are required. The brewery is served by Chuo Bus (hourly; about 75 minutes) and infrequent trains stopping at Sapporo Beer Teien Station on the JR Chitose–Sapporo Line (you might be best off taking the express train toward the airport and then a local train back toward the city; check with the JR staff).
