Emergencies

Pharmacies (chemists) in Mumbai are usually open daily until about 9 pm, and a wide variety of medications, including those that may require a prescription in the West, are available here over the counter. Hotels have house physicians and dentists on call. Your consulate can also give you the name of a reputable doctor or dentist and can assist you in locating the closest chemist. Otherwise, try the emergency room at Breach Candy Hospital or nearby Jaslok Hospital—both are privately run and have highly regarded doctors. Mumbai emergency services can't respond to an emergency as quickly as these services do in parts of the world with better roads and more manageable traffic.
