A fusion of traditional and modern India, this elegant hotel is on the fringe of the city center, overlooking the Maidan and the Victoria Memorial. Modern Indian art, artifacts (including terra-cotta reliefs), and antiques are showcased throughout the building. Rooms, which you access via quiet triangular atriums, are essentially Western, with Eastern accents and Indian prints. Service is truly outstanding. Ask for a pool-facing room, which provides a wonderful view of the memorial. Pros: gorgeous lobby with a well stocked tea lounge, very good location. Cons: some of the most expensive rooms in India, like many hotels in this class, the lobby is more impressive than the rooms.
