This waterfront YMCA property has small but relatively inexpensive rooms near the Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier. Rooms are not luxurious but have the basic amenities; the best ones face the harbor. The hotel is well placed if you want to attend cultural events in the evening: both the Arts Centre and the Academy for Performing Arts are next door. It's also just opposite the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. The 16-story hostel provides free shuttle service to Causeway Bay and the Central Star Ferry. You can use the superb YMCA Kowloon facilities, just a short ferry ride away, for a small fee.
