Tours

Both Egged Tours and United Tours run one-day tours that take in Nazareth, Capernaum, Tabgha, the Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, and the Jordan River. Current prices are NIS 330 from Tel Aviv, NIS 350 from Jerusalem.

Nazareth is the starting point of two walking trails that trace a path between sites relating to the life of Jesus; both trails are long, but it's possible to walk just a section of either. The Jesus Trail (jesustrail.com) is 65 km (40 miles) and goes from Nazareth to Capernaum on the Sea of Galilee. The 60 km (37 miles) of the Gospel Trail (www.goisrael.com) go from Nazareth to sites along the Sea of Galilee; it can be done by foot or on bike.

Fauzi Azar Tour. The Old City tour that begins at the Fauzi Azar Inn is unique in that it skips religious sites almost entirely and focuses instead on the sights, sounds, and smells of daily life in Nazareth. You are taken to the souk, where shop owners let you view and taste their wares; unique gift shops far from city center; and various coffee shops, whose managers answer questions about Nazareth life. Tours are offered every day except Sunday at 9:30 am and cost NIS 20 per person (free for inn guests). Fauzi Azar Inn, 2606 St., Nazareth, Northern District, 16125. 04/602–0469; abrahamhostels.com. NIS 20.
