Zichron Ya'akov
A planted roundabout marks the main entrance to Zichron Ya'akov, a town named by its original settlers in honor of Baron Edmond de Rothschild's father, James, in 1882. Pick up a town map in the tourist office just opposite, next to the Founders' Monument and near the old cemetery. Good restaurants, interesting shops, and a couple of small museums line the 19th-century streets. The well-known Carmel Winery is one of the main draws.
