I must admit, I didn't get the gold bathroom thing until I saw your photos. I was thinking to myself, why would anyone make the actual toilet itself out of gold given its function.

Matsumoto Castle looks beautiful. Judging from the exterior, the main keep looks very similar to Himeji. The scenery on your ride to Matsumoto reminds me of the trip from Takayama to Nagoya.

Glad you were able to lose the crowds so early in your trip. For us, Miyajima was the worse. The only places where it wasn't busy were Takayama, Kamikochi, and Tomonoura. Even less popular places...

Funny, progol, that our Sundays in Tokyo mirrored each other. We were at Shibuya Crossing at around 4:00 PM and the crowds were worse than at Takeshita Street that day.
