What a lovely find. I expect the Kaga Onsen towns to get busier with the Shinkansen coming in a couple of months and it not being as peaceful anymore.

Matsumoto Castle looks beautiful. Judging from the exterior, the main keep looks very similar to Himeji. The scenery on your ride to Matsumoto reminds me of the trip from Takayama to Nagoya.

The views from your room in Asakusa are fantastic. Hama Rikyu is like an oasis; we missed it this time but made up for it at Shinjuku Gyoen. Looking forward to more.

Glad you were able to lose the crowds so early in your trip. For us, Miyajima was the worse. The only places where it wasn't busy were Takayama, Kamikochi, and Tomonoura. Even less popular places...

Funny, progol, that our Sundays in Tokyo mirrored each other. We were at Shibuya Crossing at around 4:00 PM and the crowds were worse than at Takeshita Street that day.
