Huancayo's nightlife is surprisingly spunky. Many restaurants turn into peñas with dancing, live music, and folkloric performances from Friday to Sunday between 7 pm and midnight (though some may start and end earlier). If you arrive around or after the time the show begins, expect to pay a cover of about S/7–S/15.
Cocteles del autor (signature drinks) and old-fashioned, round-the-hearth furnishings make this hotel bar a favorite on cold Andean nights. Sit back in one of the easy chairs and listen to the DJ spin Latin pop hits or order a piqueo (snack tray) from the excellent kitchen.
Quirky theme bar? Live music venue? Upscale steak house? This uncategorizable Huancayo institution is a mash-up of all three. Though at times bordering on the chaotic, it gives off consistently upbeat vibes amid the decor of Pac-Man murals, Rambo statues, and Transformers toys (yes, the owners' 1990s chronology is a bit off). It's perfect for those nights when you want to drink a fine Merlot while playing Galaga and listening to Peruvian grunge bands.
